Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the effects of improvement of pulmonary function of patients treated by preoperative respiratory function exercises. Methods :From March 1999 to September 2001, 40 thoracic-open operative patients were optioned randomly. The effects of improvement of pulmonary function result from abdominal respiratory exercises under pressure and valid cough exercises were observed and analyzed. Results :Compared with pre-exercise, pulmonary function was improved to a certain extent after respiratory function exercises. Conclusions: Pulmonary function in thoracic-cardiovascular surgical patients was improved, operative endurance enhanced, and postoperative complication in respiratory organs decreased to an extent though respiratory function exercises which deserved to wide application.
