Abstract
Objective To evaluate the improving effects of respiratory function exercises on improving postoperative pulmonary function in patients with esophageal carcinoma. Methods A total of 53 patients with primary esophageal carcinoma for thoracic-open operation patients were randomized into observation group and control group. The control group was given with the routine care and the observation group was given with the routine care and abdominal respiratory exercises under pressure and valid cough exercises since the 7th day before the operation. The improving effects of pulmonary function was observed and analyzed. Results There was no significant difference in pulmonary function before respiratory function exercises between the observation group and the control group(P0.05).After the respiratory function exercises(a week after the operation),the respiratory rate was lower and the partial pressure of oxygen,VC,MVV and FEV1 were higher than those in control group, respectively.Significant differences were found in the comparison of the two groups(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion Pulmonary function in patients with esophageal carcinoma was improved with enhanced tolerance and strength of respiratory muscle group through respiratory function exercises.
