Abstract

Objective To observe the regularity of fluctuation serum homocysteine(Hcy) levels in patients with cerebral infarction and to investigate the relationships Hcy and pathogenetic condition of cerebral infarction. Methods The serum levels of Hcy were measured in 68 patients with cerebral infarction and 64 healthy controls, and the correlation with the scale of clinical neurologic deficit were analyzed. Results The levels of serum Hcy in patient with cerebral infarction were significantly higher than that in healthy controls(p0.01).There was no significant difference of serum Hcy level among difference clinical subtype groups of cerebral infarction(p0.05).Conclusions High levels of serum Hcy is highly associated with the occurrence of cerebral infarction,Maybe high levels of serum Hcy can`t perfectly reflect the pathological changes of cerebral infarction. The factor is one of risks of arterioscle-rosis
