Survey and Analysis on Current Situation of Rural Doctors in Sichuan Province

Abstract

OBJECTIVE According to the current situation of rural doctors in Sichuan Province,an in-depth analysis is conducted on problems existing in such aspects as number,gender,age,educational background of rural doctors in Sichuan Province,providing a scientific basis for the enlargement of rural doctors in Sichuan Province.METHOD Stratified cluster random sampling is applied to the investigation and analysis on the basic situation of 183 rural doctors of Class I~III economic zones in Sichuan Province.RESULT Rural doctors are insufficient in Sichuan Province;the ratio of female to male is out of balance;the proportion of rural doctors,who are 60 years old and above,is as high as 18.0%;over a half of rural doctors have worked for 20 years or more;in addition,the rural doctors with diploma of secondary vocational school account for 66.7%;55.4% of the rural doctors have received medical education concerning integrated traditional and western medicine,while 50.8% of them are mainly engaged in integrated traditional and western medicine;moreover,only 20.8% of the rural doctors have(assistant)medical practicing qualification.CONCLUSION It is proposed to introduce talents via diversified channels,to stabilize the number of rural doctors,encourage them to accumulate extensive experiences in practition based on their educational background,to offer more professional trainings,thereby optimizing the structure of rural doctors' team in Sichuan Province and improving its overall quality.Besides,the competent health sector of Sichuan Province shall focus on the sanitation conditions in Class II areas and take excitation measures such as delivering economic and political supports,in an effort to improve the general sanitation level in Sichuan Province.
