The Healing Effect Observation on Community Elderly Patients of Having Carotid Artery Plaque Using Ginkgo Biloba Extract Capsules Combining with Atorvastatin

Objective To observe the healing effect of Ginkgo biloba extract capsules combining with small dose Atorvastatin on treating and reversing community elderly patients of having carotid artery arteriosclerotic plaque.Methods Selecting 60 elderly patients of having hyperlipoidemia and carotid artery arteriosclerotic plaque screened by color Doppler ultrasound,giving each 19.6mg Ginkgo biloba extract capsules 3 times one day combining with 10mg Atorvastatin by mouth per night,after 3 and 6 months,examining carotid artery again.Observing the thickness of carotid artery arteriosclerotic plaque and blood lipid changes including IMT,TC,TG,LDL-C and HDL-C pre-therapy and post treatment in community outpatient department.Results After 3 months,carotid artery arteriosclerotic plaque in 80% patients have been decreased in various degrees,6 months later,which in 93.33% patients have been reduced.The thickness of carotid artery arteriosclerotic plaque is(0.71±0.06)mm,it has been decreased obviously compared with pre-therapy of(1.22±0.08)mm(P0.05),TChol,TG,LDL in blood has been decreased in significant difference compared with untreated.HDL is stable and on some cases it has been increased.Conclusion Atorvastatin combined with Ginkgo biloba extract capsules can decrease carotid artery arteriosclerotic plaque obviously.So the healing effect of Ginkgo biloba extract capsules and Atorvastatin for treating community elderly patients of having carotid artery plaque is precise and positive.After using them for 6 months,cerebral infarction is prevented effectively.
