Effect of Naoxintong Capsule combined with atorvastatin calcium on elderly patients with carotid atherosclerosis plaque

Abstract
Objective To study the clinical effect of Naoxintong capsule combined with atorvastatin calcium on elderly patients with carotid atherosclerosis plaque.Methods 306 cases of older patients diagnosed with carotid atherosclerosis plaque were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group.The observation group was given atorvastatin calcium (20 mg,one time a night) combined with Buchang NaoXinTong capsule (3 capsules (1.2 g),3 times a day,6 months as one course of treatment).The control group was given atorvastatin calcium (20 mg,one time a night).The carotid artery with color Doppler ultrasound,liver and kidney function lipid,blood coagulation function,glycosylated hemorrheology,hsCRP and other indicators were detected before and after the treatment for 2,6 months.The clinical effect of Naoxintong capsule combined with atorvastatin calcium on elderly patients with carotid atherosclerosis plaque was observed.Results The intima-middle thickness (IMT),largest area of plaque transverse section (Smax),plaque quantity,low density lipoprotein (LDL) and hsCRP indexes were more improved in observation group than those of control group after treatment for 6 months.There was statistically significant difference between groups(P0.05).The function of liver and kidney has no obvious change in patients of two groups before and after treatment.Conclusion Naoxintong capsule combined with atorvastatin calcium on elderly patients with carotid atherosclerosis plaque is safe and effective to significantly reduce the incidence of cerebrovascular diseases.
