Abstract
Objective: To observe the therapeutic effects of insulin on acute cerebral infarction. Methods: Sixty-one patients with acute cerebral infarction were divided into two groups in random: 31 cases (control group) were treated by routine methods and 30 cases (therapy group) by regular insulin on the basis of routine methods.12~16U regular insulin per day was administered by intravenous dripping in 10 days. Plasma glucose and score values of the European Stroke Scale (ESS) were observed. Results: There were no statistically significant differences between the 2 groups at baseline. The plasma glucose levels of the therapy group were significantly lower than those of the control group. The score values of ESS were significantly higher at the 10th day (P0.05) in the therapy group. Conclusion: Insulin can improve the nervous function in patients with acute cerebral infarction.
