A PRIMARILY REPORT ON BLACKFLIES IN THE NORTHWEST OF SICHUAN,CHINA(DIPTERA:SIMULIIDAE)

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the basic fauna and geographical distribution of blackflies in the northwest of Sichuan Province.Methods: Immature stages of blackflies were collected from five different representative areas of the northwest of Sichuan Province with conventional methods,and were reared in the lab to produce adults.After the identification of the slide and needle-fixed speciments,a list of blackfly species in this area and a discussion were given.Results: 17 species including 4 new ones and 5 new recorded ones from the northwest of Sichuan Province were reported.Conclusion: There is a rich diversity and characteristic of region of blackflies in the northwest of Sichuan Province.
