Analysis of Blood Pressure Levels and Relevant Indices of the Staffs of Fudan University

Objective To investigate the relationship of blood pressure levels with overweight,blood lipid,blood glucose and serum uric acid of college teachers,and to provide evidence for staff health care.Methods The routine physical examination survey data from 4 067 persons were analyzed.The blood pressure data were divided into six sub-levels according to criteria of the 1999 WHO/ISH Guidelines of Hypertension Prevention and Control.Their BMI,blood lipid,blood glucose and serum uric acid index were compared with each other of different blood pressure levels.Results The rate of detected hypertension was 18.96%,among which the percentage of level 1,2 and 3 was 83.14,15.56 and 1.30,respectively.The total prevalence rate of hypertension was 31.67%.The prevalence rate of male was obviously higher than female(χ2=81.77,P0.01).The prevalence rate of hypertension increased with age independent of gender(P0.01).The rate of detected risk factors such as overweight,hyperglycemia,hyperlipoproteinemia,hyperuricaemia increased with blood pressure level.The rate of detected risk factors among patients with primary hypertension was higher than that among the persons with normal blood pressure(P0.01).Conclusion The hypertension is closely related with gender,age,overweight,hyperglycemia,hyperlipoproteinemia and hyperuricaemia.
