Analysis of Hypertension Detection and Related Factors among Teachers at a University

Objective To have a knowledge about the incidence of hypertension on university teachers and affecting factors thereof.Method Physical examination was conducted for 2 605 teachers and staff members in the whole university to know about the blood pressure,blood lipid,blood glucose,body mass index etc.which were statistically analyzed.Results The hypertension detection rate was 19.76%,which increased as the object aging.The detection rate of blood lipid abnormality,overweight,high blood glucose in the group with hypertension were obviously higher than those in the group with normal blood pressure,and the difference was statistically significant(P0.01).Conclusion The detection rate of hypertension for university teachers is higher than the national average level,and the reasons are probably related to the pressure from work,life style and metabolic syndrome of university teachers.
