Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of growth differentiation factor-15 in heart failure induced by congenital heart disease. Methods Sixty-two patients with heart failure induced by congenital heart disease were enrolled in our study from March 2011 to September 2011 in Bazhong central hospital. Patients were assigned into group of heart failure and group non-heart failure group according to whether complicating with heart failure or not. Plasma concentration of GDF-15 and NT-proBNP were measured by ELISA. LVEF was detected by ultrasonic cardiogram. Results The group heart failure demonstrated a significant higher plasma concentration of GDF-15 and NT-proBNP,and LVEF decreased compared with Group non-Heart Failure( P 0. 01). Conclusion Plasma concentration of GDF-15 is elevated in patients with heart failure induced by congenital heart disease. It may be a helpful auxiliary biomarker in diagnosis of heart failure induced by congenital heart disease.
