Analysis of visual rehabilitation in massive small-incision cataract surgeries combined with intraocular lens implantation

Objetive To analyze the effect of visual rehabilitation in massive small-incision cataract surgeries combined with intraocular lens(IOL)implantation.Methods From Aug.2008 to Sep.2009,total 329 patients(329)eyes underwent small incision cataract surgery and IOL implantation.Results The uncorrected visual acuity of 0.8 or better was in 269 eyes(81.76%)in the first days after surgery.The visual acuity was less than 0.8 in 34 eyes(10.33%),whose main reasons as corneal edema.There were 3 eyes with high intraocular pressure causing corneal edema,2 eyes with uveitis reaction.The remaining 21 eyes(6.38%)were with optic neuropathy.The uncorrected visual acuity of 0.8 or better was in 287 eyes(87.23%)in one week after the operation,and was in 294 eyes(89.36%)after the operation in a month.Conclusion It is effective for massive small incision cataract surgery and IOL implantation and it is suitable for the implement of massive cataract surgery at the visual rehabilitation.
