Clinical efficacy of manual small incision cataract surgery for complicated cataract due to uveitis

Objective To discuss the clinical efficacy of manual small incision cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation for complicated cataract due to uveitis.Methods 32 eyes of 32 cases with complicated cataract due to uveitis of which the inflammation was stable more than 3 months were treated with manual small incision cataract surgery and IOL implantation.The patients were followed up for 3 to 6 months and the visual acuity,intraocular pressure and complications were observed.Results Postoperative visual acuity of 32 eyes was improved,which was over 0.5 in 14 eyes,0.3 to 0.4 in 12 eyes and 0.1 to 0.2 in 6 eyes.Pupils were round or oval.Intraocular pressure was normal.Surgical complications were early corneal edema and uveitis.Conclusion Manual small incision cataract surgery and IOL implantation for complicated cataract due to uveitis is safe and has fewer complications,slight postoperative reaction and good recovery of visual acuity.
