Abstract
Objective To evaluate the relationship between microalbuminria and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Fasting serum glucose, insulin, lipid level were measured in 40 patients with microalbuminria and in 44 patients without microalbuminria. Insulin sensitivity index (ISI) were calculated and their interrelation were analyzed. Results Diabetic patients with microalbuminria had lower ISI, higher riglyceride (TG) levels compared to the diabetic without microalbuminria (P0.01, P0.05) Conclusion Insulin resistant may be a risk for the development of with type 2 diabetes mellitus and microalbuminria.
