Abstract
Objective:To explore the relationship between sera TNFalevels and insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: 23 healthy persons (control group) ,28 cases of type-2 diabetes mellitus were selected to determine fasting blood glucose, fasting blood-insulin and serum TNF-a by oxidase method, RIA and ELISA. Insulin sensitivity index(ISI) was calculated. Results:TNF-a levels were significantly higher while ISI lower in DM group than those in control group(P0. 01). Conclusions. In type 2 diabetes mellitus the level of TNF-a increased and it was negatively correlated to ISI, which plays an important role in the development of the disease.
