Abstract
Objective To observe and analyze the clinical effects of scleral buckling and encircling surgery for long-standing retinal detachment in juvenile. Methods 42 cases(42 eyes) with long-standing retinal detachment were treated with scleral encircling and buckling, combined with croytherapy, including 4 eyes(9.5%)underwent scleral buckling merely,6 eyes( 14.3%) with silicone encircling merely, and 32 eyes(76.2%)with scleral buckling combined with encircling. Results The follow-up duration was from 6 to 12 months(mean8.6 months).Retina was completely reattached after one surgical procedure in 36 eyes(85.7%), and was alleviated obviously in 6 eyes(14.3%).Conclusion Scleral encircling and buckling is an effective and safe method that can be chosen at first in juvenile with long-standing retinal detachment.
