Evaluation of encircling scleral buckling surgery in retinal detachment with vitrectomy.

Objective: to discuss the therapeutic effect and necessary of encircling scleral buckling surgery in retinal detachment with vitrectomy.Methods: 28 eyes were underwent vitrectomy combined with encircling scleral buckling surgery, 96 eyes were underwent vitrectomy only. All cases were reviewed, to evaluate its effect and influence on vision acuity. Results: the rate of retinal Detachment and vision after operation were no statistical difference between encircling scleral buckling group and without encircling scleral buckling group. Conclusion: the encircling scleral buckling group. conclusions the encircling scleral buckling procedure may be unprofitable in increasing the success rate of vitrectomy, it is not indispensable.
