Abstract
Objective:The aim of this study is to find out the relationship between portal hypertensions and a vasoactive substance-nitric oxide(NO)) in the liver cirrhosis (LC) patients. Methods: 48 LC patients (including 18 with compensated LC and 30 with decompensated LC) and 32 normal controls(NC)were studied. Color duplex doppler ultrasonography was used to study portal venous and splenic venous blood flow (PVBF and SVBF) and the blood concentration of NO was detected. We then analyzed the correlation between PVBF and SVBF and NO. Results: PVBF, SVBF and NO increase significantly as compared with control, PVBF and SVBF correlate with NO in LC. Conclusion: Portal hyperdynamy can be found in the cirrhosis patients from beginning to end, possibly because of higher production level of NO, which is useful for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
