Abstract

Objective: To observe the relationship between the expression of NOS-NO system in the liver of patients with hepatic cirrhosis and portal pressure and to investigate its action on the portal hypertension. Methods: Twenty normal volunteers and twenty patients with hepatic cirrhosis were chosen randomly and liver puncture was given through skin under the direction of B-ultrasonic equipment to examine portal pressure, portal vein and peripheral blood were drawed and the liver tissue was taken respectively in order to measure the density of blood NO and study the expression of the liver iNOS. Results: The density of NO in inferior and portal vein blood, expression of the liver iNOS and the portal pressure in the patients with hepatic cirrhosis were all significantly higher than that of the control group. The level of NO had no obvious difference between peripheral and portal vein blood in the control group, but NO density of portal vein in the hepatic cirrhosis was significantly higher than that of the peripheral blood. The portal pressure and NO density in peripheral vein blood,NO level in the portal blood and iNOS expression in the liver tissue had linear correlation. Conclusion: The portal pressure is closely related to NO density in portal vein , iNOS expression and in the liver tissue.
