Abstract

Objective To study the relation of plasma levels of endothelin-1 ,nitric oxide and the blood quantities of portal vein in patients with liver cirrhosis, and compare with Child-Pugh A,B,C and the health. Methods To measure the plasma levels of ET-1,NO,the diameter of portal vein and velocity of portal blood in 30 patients with liver cirrhosis, with radioim-munoassay ,spectrophotomctry and colour duplex ultrasound .and the result was compared with that of 8 health. Result It showed that the plasma levels of both ET-1 and NO in patients with liver cirrhosis were markedly higher than that of the health;the blood quantities of portal vein in patients with liver cirrhosis were markedly lower than that of the health. With the liver founction Child-Pugh grades. Compared grade A with the hearlth, ET-1 and NO had no markedly difference,Qpv had markedly difference. Compared grade B with grade A,and grade C with grade B,the plasma levels of ET-1,NO and the blood quantities of portal vein all had significantly difference. Conclusion The plasma levels of ET-1 and NO in patients with liver cirrhosis were increased parallel and the Qpv decreased parallel. They take part in the process of liver cirrhosis together.
