Abstract

[Objective] To introduce the method and efficacy of the endoscopic frontal sinus drainage in the treatment of chronic frontal sinusitis.[Methods] A retrospective analysis of 43 patients(78 sides) with chronic frontal sinusitis in patients with clinical data, summary and endoscopic frontal sinus surgery related to anatomical characteristics of the frontal recess, endoscopic frontal sinus drainage describes the clinical effect.[Results] CT slices in 43 patients(78 sides) of chronic frontal sinus obtained statistics,35 sides(44.87%) sinus openings in between the middle turbinate and uncinate process.43 sides(55.13%) sinus were open between the uncinate process and the orbital board.Based on the above analysis of anatomical features of these 43 patients were performed Draf Ⅰ type,Ⅱa/b-type frontal sinus drainage, efficiency, respectively,Ⅰ type 84.21%(32/38),Ⅱ a type 82.76%(24/29),Ⅱb-type 90.91%(10/11),the difference had no statistically significant effect(P 0.05).More than 1 year after surgery were followed up and found that after 3 months,6 months and 1 year were 17 sides,19 sides and 20 sides around the frontal sinus ostium mucosa or bone appeared hyperplasia to cause stenosis or atresia.[Conclusion] Endoscopic sinus drainage has a good effect for the treatment of chronic frontal sinusitis.
