The expression of VEGF,Flt-1 and MVD in benign prostatic hyperplasia

Abstract

Objective:To study the MVD and the expression of VEGF,Flt-1 in benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods: Immunohistochemical staining(S-P) was used to examine MVD and the expression of VEGF,Flt-1 in 37 cases of BPH and 6 cases of normal prostate(NP).Results: VEGF expression was negative in all 6 NP;the positive rate of of VEGF in 37 BPH was 78.4%.There was statistical significance between the two groups(P0.05).The expression of Flt-1 was positive in two groups,and there was no statistical significance(P0.05).MVD parameter was 4.83±1.83 in NP and 8.00±3.28 in BPH,and there was statistical significance between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion: In the progress of benign prostatic hyperplasia,the expression of VEGF and angiogenesis are significantly developed.VEGF plays an important role in pathogenesis and development of BPH,but Flt-1 is a less important factor.
