Effect of Tongxinluo capsule on the function of platelet activation in patients with unstable angina pectoris

Objective To investigate the effect of Tongxinluo capsule on the levels of CD62P and CD63 in patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP).Methods 46 patients with UAP were randomly divided into Tongxinluo group and control group, 23 cases in each group. Both groups received the treatment with aspirin and other routine agents, and Tongxinluo capsule was orally given to the Tongxinluo group, 3 capsules once,three times a day,with a treatment course of eight weeks. The CD62P and CD63 were determined by flow cytometry,the changes of symptoms of angina pectoris and ECG were observed before and after treatment. Besides, 18 healthy subjects were selected as normal control group.Results The levels of CD62P and CD63 in the two treatment groups were significantly higher than those in normal control group before treatment(P0.01). After 8-week's treatment with Tongxinluo capsule, the symptoms of angina pectoris, ischemic manifestation in ECG were obviously improved in Tongxinluo group,as compared with those in control group. Moreover, CD62P and CD63 in Tongxinluo group were significantly decreased, as compared with those in control group, while in Tongxinluo group and control group, which were higher than those in normal control group(P0.05).Conclusion Tongxinluo capsule combined with aspirin may inhibit platelet activation in UAP patients and has good therapeutic effect on angina pectoris.
