Abstract

China saw enormous turbulences and changes from late 1920s to 1970s. The civil wars, Anti-Japanese War and the harsh and severe political movements at home afrer the founding of P.R. China all became important settings for the coming and evolving of “sociohistlrical criticism” “Sociohistorical criticism” moved from the model of pluratistic criticism to mono-criticism model, from the mainstream criticism to the guiding criticism under the complicated influences of many factors such as Chinese traditional cultural and literary values, the poetry of former Soviet Union and Marxism literary criticism. This article roughly draws the evolution lines of “sociohistorical criticism” in modern Chinese literary criticism in terms of its three types —— governmental criticism, cognitive criticism and subjective criticism.
