Abstract
A new method for the determination of nitrite ion is proposed by two-wavelength UV-Vis spectrophotometry. This method is based on the diazotization-coupling reaction of saforian O with nitrite ion in H_2SO_4 medium can result in a sensitive absorption at 518 nm and 348 nm. The linear range is 0~6.0/μg/10mL for nitrite and the apparent molar absorptivites is 6.2×10~4·L·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1). The method has been applied to the determination of nitrite in vegetables and water with satisfactory results.
