Abstract

A new spectrophotometryic method for the determination of nitrite ion by Cation surfactant Enhancement was studied. The proposed method is 8. 8 % more sensitive than the ordinary spectrophotometryic method. The method is based on the diazotization-coupling reaction of amido black 10B with nitrite ion in HCI medium, which leading to an evident absorption at 620nm. The linear range is 0~4μg/10ml for nitrite and the apparent molar absorptivites is 2. 73×104 L · mol-1 · cm-1. The method has been applied to the determination of nitrite in water samples with satisfactory results.
