EXPERIMENTAL OBSERVATION ON PROPERTIES OF COMPOUND CHITOSAMINE DISINFECTANT

Abstract

In order to know the germicidal efficacy and toxicity of compound chitosamine disinfectant, quantitative germicidal test and animal toxicity test were used to observe experimentally its germicidal efficacy, stability and toxicity. The results showed that the killing rates of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus on cloth strips exposed to the disinfectant solution containing chitosan 1800 mg/L for 3 min and Candida albicans exposed to the disinfectant solution containing chitosan 5400 mg/L for 5 min attained over 99.90%. Organic substance had no significant influence on the germicidal efficacy. Storing in 54℃ incubator for 14 days did not cause obvious change of its efficacy in killing C. albicans. Toxicological test indicated that this disinfectant belongs to actually non-toxic grade and was non-irritative to skin and mucous membrane. Conclusion: This disinfectant has relatively good germicidal efficacy and low toxicity, and is stable and non-irritative.
