Abstract

Objective:To determine clinical significance and expression of cellular proliferative antigen Ki-67 in laryngeal carcinoma tissues.Methods:Ki-67 expressions in 41 cases of laryngeal carcinoma tissues were detected by immunohistochemical S-P method;12 cases of pericarcinoma tissues were used as control and comparison. Results:The positive expression rate of Ki-67 was 53.6% in 41 cases of laryngeal carcinoma tissues and 16.7% in 12 cases of pericarcinoma tissues, which showed significant difference ( P 0.05).There was no significant difference in sex, age, course, tumor site and TNM stage. The levels of Ki-67 expression were significantly higher in the groups with smoking, drinking habits and lymph node metastasis than in those without ( P 0.05).The positive expression rate of Ki-67 showed significant difference among pathological stages of laryngeal carcinoma tissues ( P 0.01).Conclusion:The results suggest that the Ki-67 might play an important role in the development and progression of laryngeal carcinoma and should be used as an important reference marker of malignant degree and prognosis of laryngeal carcinoma.
