Abstract

Aim To explore the protective effect of astragalus extract(AE) on acute liver injury in mice. Methods A liver injury model was induced by CCl4.The of alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST) in plasma, the contents of alondiadchyde(MDA),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) in liver homogenate were measured.Hepatic pathological changes of liver tissue were observed. Results AE significally lowered serum ALT,AST,decreased MDA and improved SOD,GSHPx in liver homogenate as well as reduced the pathological damage on liver. Conclusion AE has protective effect on acute liver injury in mice.
