Breeding and Application of Indica Early Restorer Line To463 in Rice

Crossing two different indica early cropping restorer lines To974 and R402, a new good quality restorer line To463 has been developed. Having combined the favourable characters of the two parents, it has the features of good grain quality, strong restoring ability, good combining ability, and heavy pollen load. The hybrids derived from it show high yielding ability, good grain quality, wide adaptability, good cold tolerance in seedling stage and good high temperature tolerance and fast grain filling in late growing stage. Among them, Weiyou 463 (V20A×To463) and Jinyou 463 (Jin 23A×To463) were certified and released to farmers' fields in Guangxi in 2001 and Xinxiangyou 463 (Xinxiang A×To463) in Hengyang, Hunan in 2000.
