Breeding and Utilization of Indica Type Restorer Line Pinghui 9901

Pinghui 9901, derived from a superior variant plant of the good grain quality restorer line Gui 99 (436∥IR2061/IR661), is an indica type restorer line in rice with strong restoring ability, high combining ability, good blast resistance, good grain quality and heavy pollen load for high yield of hybrid seed production. In 1998, Shanyou 9901 (Zhenshan 97A/Pinghui 9901) was examined and approved by Jiangxi Crop Variety Release Committee. So far, using Pinghui 9901 as the restorer line, a series of hybrids such as Ping Ⅱ You 9901, Jinyou 9901, Boyou 9901 and Zhongyou 9901 have been developed and are being tested under various trials.
