Breeding and Utilization of New Restorer Line 08 with Good Grain Quality in Rice

08 is a thermo-sensitive medium maturity and fine-quality rice restorer line,which is derived from the cross of the restorer line Gui 227 or Qiguizhan as male and Youzhan 8 as female and developed by the Guangxi Rice Research Institute.It is characteristic of good plant type,strong tillering ability,heavy pollen load,good disease resistances,high combining ability,strong restoring ability,good grain quality and medium maturity.Among its hybrids,Qiyou 08 showed high-yielding ability,good grain quality and medium maturity and was certified and registered by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2006.
