Breeding and Application of Fine Quality Early Indica Restorer Line R899

R899, developed from the cross between Xiangzaoxiang 13 and To974 by the Yongzhou Agricultural Research Institute of Hunan Province, is a new early cropping indica restorer line in rice. It is characteristic of strong restoring ability, good blast resistance, fine grain quality and high hybrid seed yield. The serial hybrid combinations of R899 showed high and stable yield, good grain quality, suitable maturity and wide adaptability. Among them, Ⅰ You 899 (You Ⅰ A/R899) and Jinyou 899 (Jin 23A/R899) were certified to release to commercial production in Hunan Province in February, 2004.
