Clinical significance of tissue Interleukin-8 expression in patients with colorectal carcinoma

Objective Aim In this study,we investigate cancerous tissue IL-8 expression in patients with colorectal carcinoma and evaluate its clinic significance.Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to detect tissue IL-8 expression in 56 patients with colorectal carcinoma and its relationship with many pathologic parameters.Results Tissue IL-8 expression was found to be significantly elevated in patients with colorectal carcinoma,compared with normal tissue(P0.05).There was a close relationship between tissue IL-8 expression and the pathologic parameters such as presence of venous invasion,lymph node metastasis,liver metastasis and clinical-pathological stage(Dukes)(P0.05),but its relation to tumor site,histological type,age and sex was not significant(P0.05).Conclusions Tissue IL-8 expression correlated significantly with biological behavior of colorectal carcinoma,the high expression of IL-8 might be related with the occurrence and progress of colorectal cancer.
