Clinical significance of tissue MMP-3 mRNA expression in patients with colorectal carcinoma

Objective In this study,we investigate cancerous tissue MMP-3 mRNA expression in patients with colorectal carcinoma and evaluate its clinic significance.Methods FQ-PCR method was used to detect tissue MMP-3 mRNA expression in 56 patients with colorectal carcinoma and its relationship with many pathologic parameters.Results Tissue MMP-3 mRNA expression was found to be significantly elevated in patients with colorectal carcinoma,compared with normal tissue (P0.05).There was a close relationship between tissue MMP-3 mRNA expression and the pathologic parameters such as presence of venous invasion,lymph node metastasis,histological type,liver metastasis and clinical-pathological stage (Dukes) (P0.05),but its relation to tumor site,age and sex was not significant(P0.05).Conclusions Tissue MMP-3 mRNA expression correlated significantly with biological behavior of colorectal carcinoma,the high expression of MMP-3 might be related with the occurrence and progress of colorectal cancer.
