Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the protective effect of edaravone through observing the expression of tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α).Methods:Sixty Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham operation group, saline control group and edaravone treatment group.Saline control group and edaravone t reatment group were divided into 3h,6h,12h and 24h subgroups. The left middle cerebral artery ischemia-reperfusion injury model(MCAO) was made by Koizumi suture-occluded method. The expression of TNF-α was investi-gated by immuno histochemistry technique. Results:The levels of TNF-α in sham operation group were lower than those in saline control group(P0.01).The levels of TNF-α in saline control group increased in 3 h and reached peak in 12 h and then gradually decreased.Compared with that in saline control group, the levels of TNF-α in edaravone treatment group obviously reduced(P0.05).Conclusion: Edaravone could reduce the levels of TNF-α and protect the brain.
