Abstract

Objective:To investigate effects of Edaravone on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods:Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model was generated by occluding the right middle cerebral artery(MCA)for 2 h and followed by reperfusion in rats. The rats were randomly divided into sham operated group, normal saline(NS)group, low dose of Edaravone-treating group and high dose of Edaravone-treating group. After 24 h of reperfusion, the neurologic deficit scores of rats were documented and the content of super oxide dismutase(SOD),and malondialdehyde(MDA)were measured.Results:①The neurologic deficit scores of low dose of Edaravone-treating group and high dose of Edaravone-treating group were significantly less than that in NS group rats(P0.01).②Compared with sham operation group, the content of SOD in NS group was significantly decreased and the content of MDA was obviously increased(P0.01).The content of SOD in the low dose of Edaravone-treating group and the high dose of Edaravone-treating group was significantly elevated and MDA was decreased than in the NS group(P0.01).And there were difference between the low dose and high dose of Edaravone group. Conclusion:Edaravone may reduce free radicals to lower cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.
