Abstract
In the traditional Chinese education concept, they took teacher as the subject and focus on cramming, while ignoring the dominant position of students. With the appearance and rise of the constructivist theory, educators began to practice studentcentered teaching. However, the empirical study remains rare. The English majors in a college were taken as research objects and the questionnaire was designed with the support of constructivist theory with the aims of understanding the situation of studentcentered college English teaching. The application of the results of this study can promote college English teaching, and improve the quality of English teaching effectively. The findings revealed that students and teachers all have a comprehensive and profound understanding on constructivist theory and student-centered teaching ideas, but they all failed to put theory into practice. Some corresponding countermeasures are provided to make the theory into practice, so that constructivist student-centered college English teaching can used by and help teachers and students.
