The fundamental difference between constructivist teaching theory and the traditional teaching theory is their different viewpoints towards learning and the functions of learners in the process of learning. The former lays emphasis on the social-cultural aspect of learning. And the new Computer-based college English teaching pattern attaches importance to studentcentered classroom with language application techniques as its primary teaching aim, which is in a good accordance with the constructivist teaching theory. So it is obvious that constructivist teaching theory has great implications for China's English language teaching reform and the cultivation of creative English personnel.
