Accessory effect of combination with citalopram in treatment of schizophrenia with negative symptoms

Abstract

Objective:To explore the efficacy of antipsychotics combined with citalopram in the treatment of negative symptoms of schizophrenia.Method:39 schizophrenic inpatients with negative symptoms were treated with antipsychotics combimed with citaloprom.Positive and negative symptom scale(PANSS)and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS)were used to assess the efficacy and side effects before and after treatments at the end of 4th,8th,12th week.Results:After 12 weeks of treatments,the total scores and negative factor,emotional blunting,emotional withdrawal,emotional exchange disorder,passive/apathy,and social withdrawal factors of PANSS decreased significantly.Conclusion:Antipsychotics combined with citalopram can improve negative symptoms in patients with schizophrenia.
