Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between expression of TRAIL and Caspase-3 and HPV16/18 infection in cervicallesions. METHODS The expression of TRAIL and Caspase-3 were evaluated in 30 normal squamous epithelium,45 low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasias(CIN-L),45 high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasias(CIN-H),and 50 carcinomas by using immunohistohemical technique. The infection of HPV type 16,18 DNA were determined by PCR. RESULTS There were significant differences for TRAIL between carcinomas,CIN-H,CIN-L and normal cervices,respectively(P0.05).Expression of Caspase-3 in CIN-H and carcinomas were higher than in normal cervices and CIN-L(P0.05).Expression of TRAIL were correlated with tumor grades(P0.05).Expression of Caspase-3 were correlated with tumor grades and clinical stages(P0.05).The positive rate of HPV16/18 was significant difference between cervical carcinomas,CIN-L,CIN-H and normal tissues(P0.05) and was not associated with the pathology character of carcinomas(P0.05).The infection of HPV16/l8 was associated with the expression of TRAIL and Caspase-3,respectively(r=-0.583,-0.516,P0.05). CONCLUSION The abnormal expression of TRAIL and Caspase-3 are associated with prognosis of cervical carcinomas. The TRAIL,Caspase-3 and HPV16/18 might show a synergistic effect during the occurrence and development of cervical carcinomas.
