Abstract

Objectives To observe the effects of atorvastatin combined with enapril on pulse pressure (PP) in senile patients with isolated systolic hypertension(ISH). Methods Seventy-eight normocholesterolemic senile patients were divided into 2 groups. Enapril 10 mg/d was taken by 38 subjects in control group, 40 subjects in treatment group were administered with enapril 10 mg/d and atorvastatin 20 mg/d orally. Blood pressure was followed-up and recorded every two weeks for 12 week. Results The PP of senile patients with ISH in control group decreased from pretreatment (74.±8) mm Hg to (68±6) mm Hg in week 12 of therapy. The treatment group had a significant PP improvement from pretreatment(75 ± 7)mm Hg to(60 ± 6)mm Hg(P0.01). Conclusions A combined treatment with atorvastatin and enapril is helpful to the PP improvement in senile patients with ISH.
