Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of blood-letting puncture and cupping for treating acute herpes zoster. Methods Seventy-two patients were randomly allocated to a treatment(blood-letting puncture and cupping plus suspended moxibustion) group of 32 cases and a control(Western medication) group of 40 cases. The curative effects, the degrees of pain and the degrees of skin injury recovery were compared between the two groups after two courses of treatment. Results There was no statistically significant difference in curative effect between the two groups, but pain relief and recovery of injured skin were better in the treatment group than in the control group. Conclusion Blood-letting puncture and cupping plus suspended moxibustion can significantly relieve pain, speed a recovery from herpes and better the patient's quality of life.
