Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of blood-letting puncture and cupping in treating middle-aged and senile herpes zoster. Methods Ninety eligible subjects were recruited and allocated randomly by lot to a blood-letting puncture and cupping(treatment) group of 45 cases and a Western medicine(control) group of 45 cases. The therapeutic effects were compared. Results After one course of treatment, the cure rate was 95.6% in the treatment group and 44.4% in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference(P0.01).Conclusion Blood-letting puncture and cupping has a marked therapeutic effect on middle-aged and senile herpes zoster.
