Observations on the efficacy of blood-letting puncture and cupping plus moxa-stick moxibustion for treating inflammatio of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve

Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of blood-letting puncture and cupping plus moxa-stick moxibustion for treating inflammation of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve.Methods Sixty-four patients were randomly allocated by lot to a treatment (blood-letting puncture and cupping plus moxa-stick moxibustion) group and a control(Western medicine) group, 32 cases each. The curative effects were compared. Results After one course of treatment, the cure rate and effective rate were 75% and 100%, respectively, in the treatment group and 21.88% and 75%, respectively, in the control group. There was a very significant difference(P0.01).Conclusion Blood-letting puncture and cupping plus moxa-stick moxibustion has a satisfactory effect on inflammation of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve.
