Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical effect of phacoemulsification combining with Intraocular lens(LOL)implanation in cataract patients with high myopia.Methods 51 cases(56eyes) of highly myopic cataract patients were involved.All eyes had undergone phacoemulsification with IOL implantation.The ocular axial length was 26.09~32.24 mm.There were 41eyes in≤29mm axial length group and 15 eyes in29 mm axial length group.The Postoperative visual acuity and complications were observed.These patients were followed up for 3 months to 2 years.Results Postoperatively,the uncorrected or corrected visual acuity ≥0.5 was 37 eyes(90.24%) in group that the axial length was≤29 mm,7 eyes(46.67%) 29mm(P0.05,the difference was statistically significant).No uncompensated cornea and retinal detachment were observed in this series.The main cause of the poor result is due to the pathologic changes of the fundus in high myopia.Conclusion Phacoemulsification combining with IOL implantation offers advantages of better rehabilitation of visual acuity,proper correction of ametropia and is a effective,safe,and an ideal technique for highly myopia cataract patients.The recovery for eyes with axial lengths over 29mm was less satisfactory,but is better than preoperative visual acuity.
