Abstract

Objective To assess the therapeutic effect of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation for cataract with high myopia. Methods Phacoemulsification with IOL implantation was done on 28 cases(36 eyes) suffered from complicated cataract and high myopia with long axial length (26.50 mm).The nucleus hardness was grade Ⅱ in 10 eyes.grade Ⅲ in 20 eyes, grage Ⅳ in 8 eyes. Results Postoperatively, the uncorrected or corrected visual acuity 0.5 or better at 1 month was in 27 eyes(71.7%).The eyes with the axial lengths over 30 mm,the recovery of the visual acuity was less satisfactory. Conclusions The phacomulsification with intraocular lens implantation is an utiable technique for cataract patient with high myopia.
