Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the application time and effect of carboprost in severe postpartum hemorrhage. METHODS 100 patients with high risk to postpartum hemorrhage were randomly divided into two groups. The study group was given with preventive treatment by carboprost. The control group were given with chemical and physical treatment, such as kneading the uterus, oxytocin or methyl carboprost suppositories first. carboprost was used 15 minutes after fetal disengagement if the amount of bleeding was over 500 mL. Observe the difference of amount of bleeding during different time between the two groups. RESULTS The amount of bleeding in study group of different time was obviously less than the control group. The incidence rate of severe postpartum hemorrhage was much lower in study group. The differences were of statistical significance. CONCLUSION The preventive use of carboprost in patients with high risk to postpartum hemorrhage attained much better effects, and depressed the incidence rate of severe postpartum hemorrhage.
