Establishment of models of Type 2 diabetes induced by streptozotocin in rats

Abstract

Objective To establish an animal model similar to human Type 2 diabetes.Methods Male SD grown-up rats were fed with high-sugar and high-fat feeds to induce the insulin resistance and given lumbar injection of small dosage STZ25 mg/kg,Models of Type 2 diabetes were established.Results Blood sugar of rats in experimental group increased and their sensitivity to insulin dropped,biochemistry target confirmed that models was successfully made.Conclusion Models of Type 2 diabetes in rats became ideal animal models to study and treat Human Type 2 diabetes.
