Abstract

Objective: To explore the effects of Montelukast combined with Seretide in the treatment of cough variant asthma( CVA).Methods: Forty patients with CVA were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group( 20 cases each group). The control group were treated with 25 μg of procaterol twice a day,0. 1 g of aminophylline 3 times a day by oral. The treatment group were treated with 50 μg /250 μg of Seretide twice a day by inhalation combined with 10 mg of Montelukast once a day by oral. The cough improvement, forced expiratory volume 1 second( FEV1) and FEV1% in all cases were observed during the 4 weeks treatment. Results:The effects of the treatment group were significantly better than that of the control group at 4 weeks after treatment( P 0. 01),the disappearance rate of cough in treatment group was 90%. Compared with before treatment, the FEV1 and FEV1% in two groups were significantly improved at 4 weeks after treatment( P 0. 01),especially for the treatment group( P 0. 01). Conclusions: The treatment with Montelukast, combined with Seretide can significantly improve the cough symptoms and lung function of patients with CVA,the effects of which are better than the bronchodilation agents and relieving cough and reducing sputum drugs.
